Sunsplashed

Deliriously hot weekend! The waves of heat radiating off of sidewalks is hot enough to fry kippers. Well, this past week was the week of birthdays; Patrick, Jeremy, and Nick. So, per tradition, we held a BBQ/ ice cream cake party at Andrew's. The gang was there, of course ( Cousins+Ross+Thi). Everyone ate outside under the warm evening glow and chatted. Nick, joined us, but left at nine for a party. We enjoyed each other's company, all us kids who are all close as family, there are no secrets. Migrating inside we start up playing games. Classics such as charades, and " down by the banks" mingled fairly new favorites such as categories, "eye to eye", and count up numbers. Patrick seems to make the easiest subjects
" Bambi" into complicated elbow crawling and pouncing moves. categories is really fun! Just name things from the selected subjected when pointed to. Requires fast thinking, videos games being one of the subjects that went the furthest. Ugh, my family of gamers... Obesity is not a disease by the way Ross! [ yeah, i have to stay home, i caught some obesity from the kid next to me...] Eye to Eye is where you look up at the count of three and stare at someones face, if you and the other person happen to be looking into each others eyes: out! Everyone played into dark and then me and Jeremy raced home in the warm night. Wished i could have stayed up longer though, steaming days equal perfect nights.

Saturday at church there was a fairly long tribute to a priest that is retiring. Haha, My little cousin was dancing in a bright blue ao dai as part of the performance. It was quite rude how people left before it was finished because it went overtime. Sucks for them because there was a delicious reception afterward. So, Jeremy, Pat, Andrew, Nick and me filled up our paper plates and headed out into the blistering heat. We had a great time capering around and getting deformed balloon animals from the Mexican clown.
" oh, is she your friend?" he smiled to Andrew
" oh no, thats my cousin" Andrew replies awkwardly
Then, he hands him a yellow "flower dog" balloon .There was even a staple attached to the end of the rubber, if we pulled it out the animal would deflate. He was hilarious, we could even understand anything he said. His " what you need" sounded like " Where you live"...
" umm, i live near here?" haha!
Then, we hung out on the playground, launching each other off the bridge. After some time, the heat got to us [ Andrew was wearing jeans] and we headed home. Since it was much to hot to do anything else we went to Quen's house. The ex-President's brother Dat is my sisters best neighborhood friend. I love Dat, hes my favorite little kid. For some reason he calls me " Tofu ".Well, they have a pool, so we came over. ooohhmy goodness! The water felt DIVINE. Like, it was perfectly cold, not enough to make you shiver, but enough to completely cool you off comfortable. Jeremy and me took turns pumping up an inflatable raft and that was the main attraction. When we were not relaxing on the thing, we were fighting each other for it. We held battles about who could stay the longest on it. Much joyful splashing and tanking over ensued. We stayed there for about three glorious hours, walking home exhausted at six.
